Howdy y'all!
So recently I had another little book-club-meeting-thing, and i thought "hey, why not share with you people what it is I am reading?" So that's why I'm making this post.
The Spectacular Now
Tim Tarp
Its senior year for Sutter Keely, and he has no further plan in life. He spends his days drinking cup, after cup of 7UP and whisky and living in the now. His collection of ex-girlfriends demonstrate his lack of commitment, however, his instincts are usually good and he goes out of his way to help others. After a nerd-girl who is shy and not confident finds Sutter passed out in her front lawn, they start to build a relationship in which he helps her develop confidence in exchange for tutoring in Algebra II. This story is unlike no other and the film illustrates the intense and surreal moments that occur throughout the novel. It will leave you mesmerized and sympathizing for every character as their journeys intertwine in the most heart-breaking, stunning, and creative way. Tarp demonstrates his amazing writing, and the ability to bring characters together to a point where the reader is captivated by every word in the book.
Until next time,
Caitlin
